Witches, wart- and ringworm-charmers have practiced on Dartmoor for generations...and some say they still do today. The gift of charming was typically passed down through families, and curative methods varied. Folklorist Theo Brown listed eight charmers that practiced in and around Postbridge. Join Emma for a beautiful and fascinating walk exploring some of the locations, histories, myth and magic of this central Dartmoor community.
LEVEL: MODERATE - approximately 8km/5miles on woodland and riverside paths, quiet country lanes, and an ancient track on to open moorland. Some short sections are rocky, boggy, and hilly. Sturdy hiking boots and gaiters, or wellies, maybe required if this walk follows a period of heavy rain.
Route is dependent on weather conditions and group pace.
