Gentle Moorland Stroll

BOOK TICKETS

The Merrivale complex is fascinating - it includes a ruined Bronze Age settlement and field system, two double stone rows, standing stone, small stone circle, and several burial chambers. Following a short section of an ancient Dartmoor packhorse track, there are also beautiful views to enjoy on a clear day, plus a local legend to hear.

This experience is specifically designed for people living with chronic health conditions such as ME/CFS, Long Covid, Fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, and/or chronic pain. We will stroll at a gentle pace with plenty of stops along the way to rest, admire the views, and discuss these magnificent stones and Dartmoor features.

LEVEL: Easy - approximately 2.5km/1 1/2 miles walk on open moorland terrain. We will meander along grassy paths at a slow pace. The ground is uneven and rough in places, and there is a gentle slope to walk back up to the car park.

You are welcome to join us if you have a tramper/off-road mobility scooter. Regrettably this particular route is not accessible for wheelchairs (please look out for future dates for accessible routes announced in our monthly newsletters and on the website).

Route is dependent on weather conditions and group pace.

LOCATION: Four Winds carpark on the B3357 between Merrivale and Two Bridges

*National Grid Reference: SX561749

*What3Words app reference: ///mascot.deserved.untrained

*Nearest postcode is PL20 6ST but Sat Nav is highly unreliable on Dartmoor so I recommend you follow these directions instead

The car park is not signposted so look out for a small car park surrounded on three sides by a granite wall and large beech trees.

There are no facilities at this car park. The nearest public toilets are in Princetown.

Driving directions/any final details will be emailed approximately a week before the walk; please remember to check your junk email folder.
