Tich Scott is a 14th generation Dartmoor farmer who runs 'Proper Dartmoor Tours'. He is an award-winning local dialect speaker, has been on BBC Spotlight several times, and knows everyone there is to know as one of Devon’s best loved comedians, story-tellers, and folk singers!
Emma Cunis established Dartmoor's Daughter to share her love of the moor through nature-connection walks and activities for enhanced health, wellbeing and performance. Her maternal family has loved and lived on/near Dartmoor for generations. Her grandmother Val introduced her first husband Eric Hemery to Dartmoor in the 1950s where he set up and offered guided walks and pony treks then wrote a series of well regarded books including ‘High Dartmoor’ described as 'the bible for anyone who has the spirit of Dartmoor’.

£30 per adult - plus £10 lunch. We have a lovely warming lunch offer for you (rather than a potential soggy picnic on the moor!) - The King’s Arms in South Zeal is a traditional Dartmoor pub and is purported to be one of the hostelries on the ancient Mariners Way between Bideford and Dartmouth. The owners Carolyn and Woody have kindly offered us a special homemade beef stew, made from Farmer Luxton’s beef. This will be £10 a head with tea/coffee - to be paid separately and directly to the pub. Please confirm by reply email to info@dartmoorsdaughter.com that you would like this (or a vegetarian option).

Level: 2 out of 5. Level: 2 out of 5. We will walk for 4-6 miles with 1 or 2 stops along the way and driving in-between each walk in a vintage or luxury Landrover. Each walk will be approximately 2-4 miles long. The routes have been carefully chosen to take in local hamlets, open moorland, local farms, stories, history and wildlife.
(We will follow paths and lanes where possible but the terrain can be rough, muddy, or boggy in places so this day is not suitable for people with walking difficulties sorry)
What to wear/bring: Sturdy walking boots/wellies, plenty of warm layers, hat, gloves, waterproof jacket and trousers (even if the forecast is fine!), walking poles if you need them, snacks, drink/hot flask.
Where to meet: Clannaborough Cross near South Zeal - there is a small carpark near to the signpost. The nearest postcode for your Sat Nav is EX202QF.
Directions - On the South Zeal-Whiddon Down Road, there is a turning at Drybridge Cross that goes up on to the moor (likely signposted for Throwleigh, Shilstone or Gidleigh). Follow this for approximately one mile, then follow the road bending round to the right at Week Cross (don't turn left) this is signposted Throwleigh and Gidleigh. Keep going over a stone bridge (called Payne’s but not signposted) and the cattle grid, and in about 1/4 mile you come to Clannaborough Cross where there is a turning right to Shilstone and Gidleigh. The carpark is on the right hand side 50 yards just off this right hand turning road. Please call 07817 329584 before 9am on Saturday 7th if you need directions.
